Viré Clessé, Selection 2020, Domaine Montbarbon

Heavyweight, 15% abv but nicely integrated. Thanks to its location just under Macon, this wine enjoys abundant sunshine. Yet it retains a fresh but powerful taste, with a nice roundness. Highly recommended! Perfect as an aperitif with hummus where only Vire Clesse seems to be up for the task given the amount of garlic that we use 😅. Indulgence begins on the nose with aromas of flowers, acacia, which are accompanied by lots of sunny confit yellow fruit. Fatty juice with peppery kick on the finish. Crowdpleaser!

This Viré-Clessé cuvée is synonymous with pleasure: Very lively but at the same time roundness and concentration will be clear characteristics of this Viré-Clessé.

Jacky Montbarbon is now one of the great references in the field of Mâconnais wines and Viré-Clessé in particular.
