Foillard’s Morgon Côte du Py is no ordinary Beaujolais – it’s pure terroir expression in its most powerful form. This cuvée, from the most famous hill in Morgon, bursts with ripe raspberry, orange zest and a touch of white pepper. A natural wine with class, character and soul.
In the glass, this Côte du Py shows Gamay at its finest. Deeply coloured for a light red, the nose offers ripe raspberry jam, fresh citrus peel and hints of spice. On the palate: broad, deep, structured, with silky tannins and subtle notes of white pepper and soft spice. A wine with length, energy and remarkable finesse.
This structured Morgon pairs beautifully with both traditional French dishes and more adventurous fare:
Along with Lapierre, Breton and Thévenet, Jean Foillard was part of the legendary “Gang of Four” – pioneers of natural wine in Beaujolais. Inspired by Jules Chauvet, they have rejected industrial Beaujolais since the 1980s. Foillard opts for old vines, living soils and minimal intervention, resulting in vibrant, elegant wines with serious depth. His Côte du Py is the estate's flagship and a benchmark for real Gamay.
Looking for a bold yet refined Gamay that holds its own on both Michelin menus and weeknight dinners? Jean Foillard’s Morgon Côte du Py 2023 is a natural icon – generous, spicy, pure and deep.
