Bourgogne Pinot Noir 'Montagne de Cra' 2024, Domaine de la Rochette - Joseph Deshaires

Domaine de la Rochette is located in Milly-Lamartine, the home village of the famous poet Alphonse de Lamartine. The 'Montagne de Cra' offers impressive precision and authenticity at an honest price. This cuvée is a textbook example of how Pinot Noir from cool, limestone-rich altitudes should taste: refined, elegant, and full of life.

The wine displays a brilliant ruby red color and opens with pure aromas of fresh raspberry, black cherry, and subtle hints of blackcurrant buds. On the palate, its elegant structure immediately stands out, combining crisp acidity of redcurrant with smooth, ripe tannins and delicate notes of oak maturation and spice. Its remarkable balance and intensity allow it to evolve beautifully in the glass.

Key Features

  • Terroir: Pinot Noir grown on east/south-east facing limestone slopes and plateaus covered with a fine layer of brown clay (350–400 m a.s.l.).
  • Vinification & Ageing: Partially destemmed (50%), macerated for 8 to 10 days using indigenous yeasts, and aged in oak barrels for 9 months.
  • Flavor Profile: Pure red fruit, fine tannins, subtle spice, and crisp acidity.
  • Aging Potential: Accessible now, with the structure to age gracefully over 2 to 5 years.

Food Pairing

  • Meat: Excellent with roasted or grilled red meats and mild game.
  • Poultry: Pairs beautifully with refined poultry dishes.
  • Cheese: A wonderful match for aged hard cheeses.
  • Serving Tip: Serve preferably between 15°C and 18°C in fine crystal glasses.

The Montagne de Cra Terroir The vineyards sit on high-altitude slopes between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. The interplay of cool elevation, limestone soils, and thin clay creates a Pinot Noir with lively freshness, fine tannins, and a pure expression of Mâconnais terroir.

About Domaine de la Rochette (Joseph Deshaires - Domaine de Beauregard) The domain forms an integral part of the winemaking heritage of Joseph Deshaires and Domaine de Beauregard. The philosophy relies on patient, low-intervention methods in both the vineyard and cellar to capture the true energy, purity, and character of Milly-Lamartine.
