Sometimes a dream requires a leap of faith. That is exactly what Anne Lekkerkerker, her husband Thijs, and their two sons did when they traded their busy lives in the Netherlands for the rolling hills of Beaujolais. At Domaine Lachat, they craft natural wines that are redefining the region. Inspired by the legendary Yvon Métras, they produce wines with a unique signature: pure, full of character, and with a depth rarely encountered.
The Cuvée Lachat comes from the estate's flagship plot, situated at an altitude of 400 meters. Here, 70 to 90-year-old Gamay vines are deeply rooted in granite soil. The result? A wine that proves why Régnié rightfully holds its 'Cru' status.
In the glass, a beautiful clear ruby red color. The nose is immediately seduced by a layered bouquet of ripe cherries, dark forest fruits, and a subtle hint of sweet spices. The palate is ripe and generous yet retains the typical elegance for which Anne is highly praised. Fine tannins and vibrant freshness provide perfect balance, leading into an impressively long finish.
"This lady demands to be taken seriously; a wine full of elegance and suppleness that proves Beaujolais is so much more than just a light, juicy red."
The vineyards are managed biodynamically. After a manual harvest, the grapes undergo a semi-carbonic maceration for 18 to 19 days. The wine is fermented naturally without any additives (Vin Naturel) and bottled unfiltered. The cork and wax seal emphasize the artisanal character of this estate.
