Fleurie 'Poncié' 2023, Joseph Deshaires - Domaine de Beauregard

Fleurie is widely considered the most complete and elegant of the 10 Beaujolais crus.

Note: This wine under the Joseph Deshaires label is identical to the renowned Fleurie 'Poncié' 2023 – Château de Beauregard, sharing the exact same vineyards and winemaking process.

The wine displays a brilliant ruby color and opens with a complex aromatic expression blending floral notes, ripe red fruit, and subtle spice. On the palate, its velvety, intense, and complex texture immediately stands out, remaining entirely smooth and free of harshness. The finish is pure and linear, driven by the fresh minerality of the granite soil.

Key Features

  • Terroir: 100% Gamay from 40-year-old vines grown on the high, steep slopes of the historic 'Poncié' climat (300–400 m elevation). Sandy granitic soil rich in silica and iron oxide.
  • Oak Ageing: Natural fermentation with partial destemming. Aged for 9 months, split 50% in oak barrels and 50% in tanks before blending.
  • Sustainability: Low yields, low-intervention winemaking, and currently in conversion to organic farming.
  • Flavor Profile: Floral aromas, red fruit, subtle spice, velvety texture, and refined intensity.
  • Aging Potential: Highly enjoyable now for its supple elegance, with the structure to age gracefully over 3 to 5 years.

Food Pairing

  • Meat: Excellent with roasted lamb, white meats, and tender cuts.
  • Poultry: Pairs beautifully with fine poultry, especially in creamy sauces.
  • Charcuterie: A classic match for traditional 'saucisson de Lyon' and Burgundian charcuterie.
  • Serving Tip: Serve preferably between 14°C and 17°C in large, thin crystal glasses.

The Poncié Terroir Château de Beauregard’s 5 hectares in Fleurie are situated on the steep heights of the hamlet of Poncié. Perched at 300 to 400 meters with sweeping views of the Saône plain, the unique soil composed of weathered granite, silica, and iron oxide imparts extraordinary freshness, finesse, and aromatic purity to the wine.

About Domaine de Beauregard (Joseph Deshaires) Rooted in centuries of winemaking tradition in Southern Burgundy, Joseph Deshaires focuses on capturing true terroir expression. Cellar practices in Fleurie rely on patient, natural methods with short macerations, gentle punching down, and partial barrel aging, avoiding commercial shortcuts to produce authentic, age-worthy wines.
