Discover the surprising wines of Aurore Bachelet, an emerging talent in the wine world, whose career is off to a very promising start.
Coming from a renowned winemaking family that has been tending vineyards in the Côte de Beaune since the mid-19th century, Aurore Bachelet followed in the footsteps of her father, Vincent Bachelet, after studying oenology. After working under his guidance for five years, she decided to pave her own way. With some valuable parcels of land from her father and the purchase of a vineyard at the premier cru location Clos Roussots in Maranges, she now manages a modest two hectares of vineyards. She is known for producing refined, elegant, and delicate wines in an authentic and pure style. No overpowering wines, but true Burgundies that present themselves with great elegance. For every vintage, she strives to respect the Burgundian identity and keep the vinification as non-interventionist as possible.
A true Côte de Beaune style Chardonnay, as we like to see, from 35-year-old vines with a southeastern orientation on limestone-clay soils near Santenay. Fermentation and aging in oak barrels for 12 months, followed by 5 months in stainless steel vats. A classic white Burgundy masterpiece from the hands of young talent Aurore Bachelet. Even in its youth, this wine shows traits of a grander wine. When tasted blind, it's hard to miss the Côte de Beaune. Wonderfully dry, flint/silex, smoky with fresh lemon on the palate. Towards the finish, a hint of sweetness, with beautiful almond and toasted nuts in the finale. 13% alcohol.
This wine pairs perfectly as an aperitif with gougères or cheese puffs or with various fish dishes.
The Côte de Beaune, located in the southern part of the famous Côte d'Or, is one of the most prestigious wine regions in Burgundy. Known for its refined Chardonnay and elegant Pinot Noir, the Côte de Beaune offers an outstanding combination of quality and diversity in both white and red wines. Despite the fame of surrounding villages like Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, the region continues to reward us with new and relatively affordable talent for those seeking high-quality wines with a better price-quality ratio.
The Côte de Beaune is world-renowned for its sublime Chardonnay wines, particularly from the appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Meursault. These wines are known for their rich, full flavor with notes of citrus, honey, and butter, supported by a characteristic minerality. The Pinot Noir wines from villages like Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay are elegant with fine tannins, red berries, and earthy tones, giving each bottle its own unique character. These wines are often refined and develop beautifully over time.
The wines from the Côte de Beaune are versatile and pair excellently with refined dishes. The fresh and mineral Chardonnay wines pair beautifully with seafood, fish dishes like grilled salmon, and creamy sauces. They are also a perfect match with soft cheeses like Brie, Camembert, and Comté. The Pinot Noir wines from the region are ideal with poultry, veal ribeye, and refined meat dishes like duck or coq au vin. Earthy-flavored dishes, such as mushroom risotto or roasted vegetables, also form a perfect combination with these wines.
For wine lovers looking to discover the richness of Burgundy, the Côte de Beaune offers world-class wines that are both accessible and affordable.
