Frequently Asked Questions

Where can you find affordable Burgundy wine?

At Bourgognewijn.shop, of course! Yes, the prices in Burgundy are absurd, but not entirely incomprehensible. Aside from the excellent quality, the supply simply can't keep up with the ever-growing demand. Our focus, however, is on discovering niche wines from affordable Burgundy wineries in the lesser-known corners of this remarkable wine region. We’ve also developed a keen eye for interesting, affordable alternatives from well-known producers, such as Burgundy Blancs from Denis Carré, Aurore Bachelet, and René Lequin-Colin. The rolling hills and perfect soil conditions contribute to the highest quality wines, and while we work with just a few grape varieties—Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Noir, and Gamay—no two wines are the same. Of course, there are similarities, but it's the subtle differences that help you connect with the signature of the winemaker. Together, we uncover the hidden treasures of Burgundy, searching for parallels to the most expensive Burgundy wines, but from affordable Burgundy wineries, without making massive compromises. We’d call it the smart choice for the savvy Burgundy drinker.

Discover the Mâconnais wine region

Sensational white Burgundy wines are now coming from the Mâconnais. Here, they currently offer great tension at very competitive prices compared to the northern part of Burgundy. Know that with us, you can expect the most "Terroir per Euro" in your glass! The Mâconnais is located to the west and northwest of the city of Mâcon, along the banks of the Saône River. The region spans an area of about 50 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide. The landscape is characterized by parallel ridges that stretch from north to south. To the south, the Mâconnais borders the Beaujolais wine region. While the famous Côte d'Or has only one slope, the Mâconnais has many different mineral soils and exposures. This varied nature makes the Mâconnais, with its wide range of aspects, not only a source of very different and complex wine styles but also a haven, should the climate continue to warm.

Everything You Need to Know about Burgundy Wine

Your personal wine sommelier

''A bottle of wine full of memories. Wine as your tangible souvenir. Remember? Those narrow lanes winding through the rolling vineyards of Burgundy. The scent of sun on limestone. A brief rain shower breaks the shimmering heat; steam rises from the road and the vines breathe a sigh of relief. The gentle laughter on a terrace in the cool evening air, while you tasted that first glass — fresh, mineral, with a hint of lemon, peach and vanilla, a whisper of the land itself.

Wine is more than a drink. It’s a moment you take home in a bottle. A silent witness to an afternoon of fragrant grapes and warm sun on your skin. A memory you uncork, corkscrew in hand, far from that vineyard yet suddenly right back in it — at the table with friends, or quietly on your own, as every sip carries you back to sunshine, stillness and a touch of longing.''

Think of me as your personal Burgundy sommelier.

I travel through the most beautiful villages of Burgundy on your behalf (someone has to do it, right?), searching for affordable wines from emerging talent.

Through this webshop, I share my carefully selected Burgundy wines with you. I hope they find a place in your wine fridge—or shine directly on your table.

I have a preference for small, often lesser-known winemakers who craft wines full of energy and without pretension. We leave the big names and expensive châteaux to others; I choose Burgundies of pure quality, honestly priced, and sustainably produced.

Our wines are pure, terroir-driven, and made from classic grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Aligoté, and Gamay.

Forget villages like Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault!

Most Burgundy wines have simply become too expensive these days. That must—and can—be better!

We believe that quality doesn't have to come with a high price tag. That’s why we only offer wines with an outstanding price-to-quality ratio—perfect for enjoying right away.

Whether you prefer fresh and vibrant whites or rich and creamy ones, our collection features wines from regions such as the Mâconnais, Côte Chalonnaise, and Côte de Beaune, covering a wide range of styles.
