Small winemakers make big wines. With their Rookie No. 2, 2022, Domaine Lachat proves this once again. This small-scale estate, lovingly run by the Dutch duo Anne and Thijs, is nestled in the picturesque village of Régnié, just south of Morgon and Fleurie. In addition to their beautiful vineyards, they run a cosy table d’hôtes and charming gîtes — offering the ultimate Beaujolais experience!
Rookie No. 2 is a festive Beaujolais made from 100% Gamay. It’s juicy and smooth, with aromas of fresh strawberries, ripe cherries and a touch of floral brightness. The texture is light and round, with a cheerful acidity that makes each sip utterly refreshing. Best enjoyed lightly chilled — the essence of laid-back Beaujolais!
Rookie No. 2 is an easy-drinking crowd-pleaser that pairs well with:
Serving tip: lightly chilled (12–14°C) for maximum freshness.
Domaine Lachat is the shared adventure of Anne and Thijs, two Dutch winemakers who fell in love with the rolling hills of Beaujolais. On their 3 hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards, they craft natural wines that showcase the true character of Régnié. Inspired by pioneers like Yvon Métras, they focus on living soils and minimal intervention. They also welcome guests to their gîtes and serve seasonal dishes at their table d’hôtes — a warm tribute to the good life in Beaujolais.
A playful Beaujolais that blends charm and easy drinking in every glass — Rookie No. 2 proves that small winemakers make a big impression. Santé! 🍷✨
