Côte Chalonnaise
Located south of Burgundy's famous Côte d'Or, the Côte Chalonnaise is a wine region known for producing excellent wines at often more attractive prices than the more prestigious neighboring regions. This region includes villages such as Rully, Mercurey, Givry, and Montagny, each with its own unique character and specialties.
The wines from the Côte Chalonnaise are diverse, with both white and red varieties. The white wines, mainly made from Chardonnay, are fresh and lively with notes of citrus, green apple and mineral nuances. The red wines, made from Pinot Noir, are fruity and elegant, with aromas of red berries, cherries and sometimes a hint of spice. The region is also known for its sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne, a sparkling wine that is both refreshing and festive.
All in all, the Côte Chalonnaise offers a wonderful discovery tour through Burgundian wine traditions, with wines that are both accessible and full of character.
